Rich says: "This is one of those songs that came really quickly, once I had that first line. I was getting ready to head out on tour, and I was excited for the adventure but dreading being away. Sometimes I find some good songs in the midst of that sort of tension. The bridge is straight autobiography- I left college (in New England), started pursuing this dream in New York City, then followed a southern girl down to Virginia and, when I proposed, gave her my great-grandmother's diamond ring. The chord progression fits the lyrics, I think, because there are some dark and moody moments in there but, ultimately, hope (and a major chord) prevails..."

Chorus: D-G- C-D-G
Bridge: Am-D-C-G-D
Verse:
Oh when you're gone the night is cold as it is long
And the hurt that made you humble, wanna write about
Is the love the made you crumble from the inside out
And I believe in a new day to come
that it's always darkest before the dawn
CHORUS
Moving in slow motion, baby Still I’m moving on
Verse 2
Oh I can see there ain't no magic words that set you free
Still I'm hoping you are gonna take me as I am
Even though I am a fool and such a stubborn man
And I believe in a new day to come
That it's always darkest before the dawn
CHORUS
Moving in slow motion, baby Still I’m moving on
